Kerala Library Association (KLA) in collaboration with the Centre for Development for Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Hyderabad is organizing a Half Day Workshop on “Information Security Awareness” on 1 December 2012 in Thiruvananthapuram.
Objectives
- To give awareness about the common online information security issues.
- To equip the participants with tools and techniques to tackle different information security issues.
Who should participate
The Workshop is primarily intended for Library and Information Science Professionals, Researchers and LIS Students. Maximum intake is 40.

10:00AM – 11:30AM:Introduction, why awareness is important, what do you use internet for ?, Basic Security concepts, layer wise attacks. Major common online attacks, Identity theft, phishing, malicious applications.
11:30AM – 11:45AM: Tea Break
11:45AM – 1:15PM: Password attacks, tips, Email and Chat risks, cyber bullying (Examples, Tips) , Importance of copyrights, Social Networking risks, (Examples, Tips) Secure PC, Firewall, Updates, Antivirus
1:15PM – 1:30PM: Concluding session
