About Omeka
Omeka is an Open Source web publication system for universities, galleries, libraries, archives, and museums. It consists of a local network of independently curated exhibits sharing a collaboratively built pool of items, media, and their metadata. Omeka is a lightweight solution in comparison to traditional institutional repository software like DSpace and Fedora.

Originally developed by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University, Omeka was awarded a technology collaboration award by the Andrew Mellon Foundation. Since 2016, the Omeka project has been a project developed by the non-profit Corporation for Digital Scholarship.
