About the Workshop
Koha
Koha is a web based advanced open-source Integrated Library System in use today by hundreds of libraries worldwide. Koha adheres to many library standards and protocols such as MARC 21, UNIMARC, z39.50, SRU/SW, SIP2, SIP/NCIP, ensuring interoperability between Koha and other systems and technologies. It is a multilingual Integrated Library System which caters to the automation needs of medium to large libraries around the world.
The workshop will be on LINUX.
Objective(s) of the workshop
This is a basic level workshop. The main objective of the workshop is to enrich KOHA knowledge among the participants and to make them use KOHA’s features like report generation, customisation independently. The workshop will provide hands-on experience on using and in the administration of KOHA.
About Kerala Library Association
Kerala Library Association is the premier association of qualified librarians in the state. Since its inception in 1972 KLA has been able to represent the interests of the qualified librarians working in different libraries, always with due foresight and objectivity, keeping in view the proper development of the libraries and library services in the state. The achievements of KLA are well reflected in the developmental history of library movement in Kerala. The Association has played a pivotal role in the scientific management and quality improvement of Library and Information System (LIS) in the State.
As part of its mission of continuing education of librarians, the KLA Ernakulam Region has so far conducted various seminars, workshops etc. at national, state and regional levels as well.
About KUFOS
Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean studies (KUFOS) is an autonomous public funded-institution established on 20th November 2010. KUFOS is the first fisheries university in the country. The headquarters of KUFOS with its enchanting blue building stands in harmony with the greenery at Panangad, 12 km away from Kochi city, along NH-47. It provides high quality instructional programmes in fisheries, ocean sciences and allied subjects. The University now has 75 acres in the headquarters at Panangad, 50 acres at Fisheries station, Puduveypu and 10 acres at Thiruvallom near Vizhinjam.

The workshop is primarily intended for Library and Information Science professionals, researchers and BLIS graduates.
Registration fees
Registration fees : Rs 1500/-
: Rs 2500/- (for sponsored candidates)
Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of Kerala Library Association Ernakulam Region payable at Ernakulam.
Registration is limited to 25 participants on first come first served basis. The participants will be provided with working lunch, refreshments etc.
Accommodation
Participants will have to make arrangements for their own accommodation.

How to reach KUFOS
BY AIR:
The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport which is the busiest airport of Kerala and just 25Km away from KUFOS, Panangad. The recommended option is to catch a Taxi/ Cab from Airport to Madavana (Vytilla – Eramelloor Road).
BY TRAIN:
The nearest railway station is ERNAKULAM (JUNCTION) located near South of the Cochin City / Jose Junction. However, certain trains pass through ERNAKULAM TOWN which is located near North of the Cochin City. The best option to reach KUFOS from railway station is to catch a Taxi/ Cab/ Auto Rickshaw. But the cheapest option will be utilizing the local City Bus Services connecting the stops SOUTH – KADAVANTHRA – VYTILLA – MADAVANA
BY BUS:
The nearest major bus station is Vytilla, it is in the heart of Cochin City which connects with all national and intercity transports of South India. The best option to reach KUFOS from Bus Station is by Taxi/ Auto Rickshaw or by utilizing the local City Bus services.
