About the Workshop
Koha is a web based advanced open-source Integrated Library System in use today by hundreds of libraries worldwide. Koha adheres to many library standards and protocols such as MARC 21, UNIMARC, z39.50, SRU/SW, SIP2, SIP/NCIP, ensuring interoperability between Koha and other systems and technologies. It is a multilingual Integrated Library System which caters to the automation needs of medium to large libraries around the world.
Objective(s) of the workshop
The main objective of the workshop is to strengthen the KOHA knowledge of the participants and to make them use KOHA’s features like report generation, customisation independently. The workshop will provide hands-on experience on using and in the administration of KOHA
About Kerala Library Association
Kerala Library Association is the premier association of qualified librarians in the state. Since its inception in 1972 KLA has been able to represent the interests of the qualified librarians working in different libraries, always with due foresight and objectivity, keeping in view the proper development of the libraries and library services in the state. The achievements of KLA are well reflected in the developmental history of library movement in Kerala. The Association has played a pivotal role in the scientific management and quality improvement of Library and Information System (LIS) in the State
As part of its mission of continuing education of librarians, the KLA Ernakulam Region has so far conducted various seminars, workshops etc. at national, state and regional levels as well.
About CIRM
The Center for Information Resource Management (CIRM) was established in 1998 with the help of the MHO-INFOCUS project of the Netherlands Government. In 2006, CIRM has been established as an Independent Centre with full fledged Office. The main objective of CIRM is to act as the nodal centre for all the information technology resources of the University. It involves design, installation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure including the network, software resources and IT enabled services and facilities. CIRM also provide the staff training, user support and consulting services to user departments and external clients on demand.
Who should participate?
The workshop is primarily intended for Library and Information Science professionals, researchers and BLIS graduates. This is an advanced level workshop on Koha open source library software, so the working knowledge of KOHA is mandatory.
