KLA Kottayam Region organized Career Orientation Programme for LIS Students

A Career orientation Programme for Library and Information Science (LIS) Students was jointly organized by the Kottayam Region of Kerala Library Association and  K E College Mannanam on 12 May 2012 at the seminar hall of K.E. College, Mannanam.

The programme was aimed at making the students aware of the basic competencies required to become a new age library professional and introducing them the career opportunities ahead. Thirty eight students from different Library and Information Science institutions functioning in the Kottayam region of KLA participated in the programme.

The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr  (Dr) Joseph Ozhukayil, Principal, K.E. College, Mannanam. Shri K.P. Sadasivan, President, KLA Central Committee presided over the function. Fr Jose Virupel, President, KLA Kottayam Region welcomed the participants and Shri Vimal Kumar V. Secretary, KLA Kottayam Region delivered the vote of thanks.

Session II: Internet for professional development by Jasimudeen S., Library Assistant, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

Session III: Benefits of association with professional bodies by Fr. Jose Virupel, Librarian, S.B. College, Changanacherry.

Session IV: Higher studies and research in Library and Information Science by Biju V.V., Technical Assistant, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

Session V: Strategies for effective job hunting by Vimal Kumar V., Technical Assistant, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
